Bored on school holidays?

Finally! A break from early mornings, uniforms and homework. But now it's midway through the school holidays and you've seen all the new movies, hanging out at Hungry Jacks is tedious and you're just plain BORED!

Here's some ideas about how to enjoy the rest of the hols:

Be active:

Enjoy the warm weather and get outdoors! Go for a bike-ride in Sydney Olympic Park or skateboarding at the new skate-park in Waterloo. To celebrate there's a free deck art exhibition (till 16 Oct) and a skateboard maintenance workshop (1 Oct, 3pm-5pm) at Waterloo Library. See yourself as a future Cirque du Soleil star? Learn circus skills, tips and tricks from the experts (8 Oct, 2pm, $15).

Get creative:

Brain turned to mush from algebra? Learn how to make your own zine in Newtown (4 Oct, 11am-4pm)- it's free just bring some pics of your favourite stuff. If you're more old-school, make your own bound and illustrated book at Carriage Works (1 Oct, 10:45am, $15). Remember that letter Mr. Darcy sent to Elizabeth? Learn to write in the style of yester-year in a free beginners calligraphy workshop at Ultimo Library (6 Oct, 11am-12:30pm). Create your own chalk art masterpiece at a free workshop at Stockland Wetherill Park (2-6 Oct, 11am-2pm).

Stay stylish

Sick of your wardrobe? Host your own clothes swap with your friends. Or learn to knit and crochet for free at Surry Hills Library (8 Oct 2pm-3:30pm). Wool and needles will be supplied and in no time you'll be creating this. Hold a fancy-dress party (theme ideas: Hippies, 1920s, Grease, Disco, 1980s). Check out Frida Kahlo, Janis Joplin, Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn below at a dead famous people fancy-dress. The best place to turn up wild outfits for cheap is your local Salvos or Vinnies.
