Cycle in Cinema

I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike….Why yes, yes you do Freddie Mercury, and so do the many others sure to turn up to Sydney’s Cycle in Cinema this weekend.

An Aussie first, Cycle in Cinema is all about replicating the classic drive-in, but with a slight eco-friendly 21st century hipster twist (just how we like it at 3things!) Set up with a fancy, proper big screen and all, the innovative folks behind this one-of-a-kind cinema will be putting on a free movie Friday, Saturday and Sunday for you to see….as long as your pedal power helps them out just a bit.

Running off a fancy-schmancy system that movie-goers hook their bikes up to, all the energy created from everyone’s turns at riding is used in a super-green way to play what appears before your very eyes.

Dismissing the tradition that the only (PG-family friendly) cardio to be had in front of the big screen is that from trying to roll Jaffas down the aisle, Cycle in Cinema is certainly one not only Mamma Earth is sure to endorse but your gym instructor as well.

Providing you with a healthy dose of culture too, films to be shown this weekend have been chosen by Queer Screen and Sydney College of the Fine Arts.

So go on then… get on ya bike and get on down to Taylor Square this Friday, Saturday or Sunday for a 7:30pm start.
