"Cyber bullying is like being punched in the face"- videos that block the punch

The ten winners of the BackMeUp anti-cyberbullying competition have created a 30 second commercial at their film making workshop in Sydney. Two of the winners – Paige and Eloise from South Australia said “It is surreal the way we have got along with each other during this amazing journey no-matter what our experience of film and acting is or where we are from or how old we are we are all entirely supportive of everyone’s decisions, ideas and inputs.”

Revitalising spaces one pompom at a time

For those who are as keen as me on last months post about the Heymaker! I have some news on their latest project for you. For those who didn’t get a chance to read about Heymaker! A creative collective, it is a group of 5 artists who are very creatively revitalising their hometown with art and crafts by occupying empty shop spaces...the collective is asking for your help by taking a pledge to support the collective and for each pledge they will hang a pompom in the store window. “See that girl over there?” Annie asked me quietly. I looked across the sewing tables to a group of women laughing together as they worked, their brightly-coloured saris and gleaming golden jewellery creating a bustle and glow under the bright lights of the workshop. I looked over to the woman Annie referred to, her bright eyes gleaming and teeth showing in her wide smile. “She was sold by her family for a bag of rice”. I felt sick. Now, this smiling woman has been set free- she works for Freeset. Their business is freedom.
