National Close the Gap Day
March 21, 2013
Although we live in one of the richest countries in the world, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people die 10-17 years younger than other Australians. Babies born to Aboriginal mothers die at more than twice the rate of other Australian babies. These stats are worse than in many developing countries. But the Close the Gap campaign is changing this picture. In 2012, more than 130,000 Australians joined National Close the Gap Day to take action to improve Indigenous health.
